The LongPen is a pen, like any other pen, except it operates over the Internet and through video conferencing. But from your perspective, it still works via your brain, eyes, arm, and hand, like any other pen. It's just that the nib and ink are at a different location from you.
For the signer: How to operate the LongPen Writing Tablet
Unotchit offers two signing systems: LongPen Kiosk and LongPen BusinessWriter. Both connect to a LongPen Writing Tablet or series of LongPen Writing Tablet, which is what the signer uses to write their signature.
For the signing session, you sit in a chair with the LongPen Writing Tablet on the table in front of you. The LongPen Writing Tablet is made up of a tablet laptop and a video conferencing unit. The video conference screen is at face level and shows the person at the other location. That person sees you too; you have direct eye contact and can talk together.
The document (or other object) to be signed is placed under the pen at the other location. It is captured on camera, so you see it on the LongPen Writing Tablet in front of you. You pick up the magnetic stylus and sign on the tablet screen, treating the tablet just like a piece of paper - you can even rest your hand on it. Then you push "Send" and the pen inscribes the object, in real ink, at the other end. It perfectly recreates what you have written - and it is a legally valid, binding signature.
All this, and no travel - saving you time and money, and saving the planet from harmful CO2 emissions.
For the writing end: LongPen BusinessWriter or LongPen Kiosk
LongPen BusinessWriter
LongPen BusinessWriter is designed to integrate with existing video conferencing systems, allowing meetings and discussions to be carried out in real time prior to the signing.
Once your associate at the other location is ready to sign, you place the document to be signed in the LongPen document holder.
This steadies the document during the signing, and also positions the document so that the LongPen camera can send an image of the document to the LongPen Writing Tablet, allowing the signer to see exactly what is being signed and where the signature should be positioned.
Not only does LongPen offer a legal signature, it can also capture a digital video of the signing using video conferencing, guarding against misunderstandings or repudiation.
